  1. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

I had to bite the bullet. OS was corrupt. How I fixed the problem: 1, XP Pro has it's own partition 2. Clean install XP Pro 3. Loaded EVP per instructions 4. checked device manager (sound, video & game controls) for: a. Roxio video capture device b. USB audio device 5. Checked sounds & audio device properties a. Audio tab b. Sound recording for 'USB 2861 device' Now all of my previous recorded MPEG files work.
  2. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

I fixed the problem. I can record and import the mpg file. I have the older capture device. When I am viewing the screen, there is no movement on the recording level, therefore no audio recorded. Since the old program worked for capturing the audio/video, why not try and use that driver with EVD3. I went into device manager and deleted the ROXIO capture driver, put the old disk in and pointed to that disk for a new driver. The driver now is the same as the one deleted, 5.2011.929.0., but, it works!! Go figure! Thanks for your help. Now I am back to why the video locks up and the audio works when importing mpeg.
  3. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

Jim- I got up this morning and imported the mpg files made last night from the VHS tape. 'YES' success. (good suggestion for control) The clip without audio has good video, w/o audio as expected. Years back, Roxio made available a driver separate from the supplied disk for the USB capture device. Is a driver still available? I tried repair w/o improvement. A new USB driver may solve the audio problem. The Roxio video capture USB ver. 5.2011.929.0 and audio driver MS generic have a USB 2861 location. I do not have a USB 2861 device listed as mentioned in previous articles. I tried the suggestions for downloading youTube videos, converting to mpeg, and the results appear to be the same for playing on my computer, VLC media, good. The problem is with the video when trying to import using VHS2DVD3, audio OK. I completely removed VHS2DVD3 including the registry, ROXIO & SONIC, same results, no audio when recording a VHS tape, good video.
  4. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

Additional info. 1. Removed VHS2DVD3 program and installed the original VHS2DVD (2011) I could download VHS to a DVD disk, no proplem. However, the mpeg file video imported was the same, strips as described before. The audio is OK. 2. Loaded VHS2DVD3 and I have a good video and no sound using the capturing device. The mpeg import was the same, video strips and audio OK. Pehaps the old capturing device doesn't work with VHS2DVD3+? If the video works good with the capturing device, why doesn't it work on imported files? If someone tells me how, I will paste a picture of the striped video.
  5. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

My mistake, mp3 should have been mp4. I use the second HD, no. 2, because VHS2DVD and real player are the only programs on the drive, hopefully no corruption. Both drives have the latest AMD-VGA drivers (ATI display driver). Freemake downloader takes the URL and downloads it as a FLV, then converts it to AVI. Other programs download to a FLV, then you make a mpeg. I did some more testing with descriptions: 1. Two files made from two different downloaders making FLV files. a. Youtube downloader b. Toolz downloader 2. Both files were converted to mpeg using converter lite Results: 1. Toolz file played on HD 1 picture at the bottom is solid green and the top half you can see a picture through i/4' horizontal stripes. The stripes start from the top red, gray, tan, the picture, tan, blue an etc to you hit the solid green. 2. Toolz file played on HD 2, no problem 3. Youtube file played on HD 1 picture is made up of 1/4' gray squares over a black background. Most of them are connected making a stripe or solid area with 1/4' squares in the solid gray area. 4. Youtube file played on HD 2, no problem. Note: The files played on HD 1 stop VHS2DVD from functioning. Perhaps that is why the picture is not complete? or?
  6. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

I used 'youtube video downloader' to download youtube and get FLV files. Sometimes there would be mp3 files too. Then I used converterlite to convert to mpeg. When I would try and import the mpeg files using VJS2DVD, I would get 'program non responsive' and it shut down. Thanks Jim: I downloaded the FREEMAKE downloader/converter programs and made mpeg files. (FLV to AVI then convert AVI to mpeg) During the frustration of not being able to make the VHS2DVD program work, I put a dedicated HD in the computer with VHS2DVD as the only program. Only one HD would be connected at a time. Using a memory stick, I copied the Freemake mpeg files and used them to make a multiple titled DVD. However, the screen in VHS2DVD has a verticle green line 1 in. from the right. The line does not appear on the finished product. My question is why do the mpeg files made on the main HD not work and work on the dedicated drive?
  7. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

Tried to repair XP PRO and it crashed. Tried VISTA, same results with VHS2DVD. Reloaded XP PRO and VHS2DVD works on old files I have used in the past. Conclusion: The videos downloaded from youTube, MP4, converted to mpeg are corrupt for this application. They do work on VLC media player. Flash videos converted to mpeg work.
  8. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG replied to REIDG's question in General Discussion

I found an old mpeg file that I used several times as a chapter and tried it. I got the same results as the Utube files that I just downloaded and converted. The VHS2DVD program is corrupted and needs to be reloaded. Sorry about the text size. I thought I thanked people for the answer on chapters. The question was on how many chapters can be written. The ans.: As many as you can fit on a disk. Thanks, Reid
  9. Mpeg Files Do Not Import

REIDG posted a question in General Discussion

I have converted Utube files, mp4, to mpeg and they are not recognized when I try to import them. One file did load pixelated and locked up the VHS2DVD program. Looking back at files I put into chapters, they were all mpg files. The mpeg files play on windows media player and are asked for when making chapters. Suggestions please on getting Utube files into chapters?
  10. Chapters

REIDG posted a question in General Discussion

How many chapters can be recorded? I assume it will be limited by disc space if unlimited? In other words, is there a limit on how many created chapters can be put on a disk provided the sum of the chapters does not exceed the disk space? I am going to digitize old 8 mm single reel film, and each conversion will be a chapter. I select a DVD title and list the clips on the right side of the screen, each one has a name. When I burn the DVD, the menu has a title with the clip names listed below. I have been calling the clip names chapters. Perhaps this isn't correct. I think Digital Duru has it right. One title, 99 chapters and one hour recording time. This answers my question, Thanks, Reid

If you have a video camera, like a Logitech quick-cam used for Skype, plugged into a USB, disconnect it and try again. It worked for me.
  12. Can't Record To A Dvd

REIDG posted a question in Easy VHS to DVD

Latest V 2 D software. Video and Sound are OK. When I push the button to record, ERROR, 'HRESULT E_FAILED' HAS BEEN RETURNRD FROM CALL TO COMPONENT. It does say it is recording with no sound level. However, it doesn't record and it will not stop but says finish with the arrows rotating. Used task manager to exit program.

REIDG replied to stevens322's question in Easy VHS to DVD

9/3 Technical service will not let me open my history. Therefore, I went to the forum for help, and found this solution. I disconnected my logitech USB and now I have good video and sound. The USB 2861 audio under device manager is just usb audio device now, must the latest version. PROBLEM: I can't record to a DVD. I will star a new question.
  14. Vhs To Dvd Will Not Open

REIDG replied to stevens322's question in Easy VHS to DVD

I went thru the entire program removal including going into the registry. This time I did clean out cookies, private data, clear history and empty cache from the internet. Also used CCleaner, regServe and did all the new instructions again. Loaded the program w/o the internet connected. Same message, exception ' Disc_NOT_DEINIT_BEFORE_CLOSE' then back to icon screen. In other answers to problems, USB 2861 device must be under sounds along with Roxio Video Capture USB. I have the Roxio Capture no USB 2861. Perhaps this detail missing will help with an answer? I think it would help with using this capture device with other programs.

REIDG replied to stevens322's question in Easy VHS to DVD

Not sure if you met post #2, this page, (jim_harden). However, I did follow the how to load V2D using the VISTA recommendation. Before reloading the program, I completely removed the program first using Roxio 'complete uninstall'. Same problem and message.
